1977
Sydney Sewing Spares
In 1977 Tony Castley started Sydney Sewing Spares after selling his successful furniture business called Sew Trade Furniture. Sydney Sewing Spares started off as a wholesaler of sewing machine parts and accessories. This business grew steadily over the next nine years, until 1986 when the business expanded to haberdashery and became Sydney Sewing Supplies.

1987
Hemline was Born!
| In 1987 Hemline we released our exclusive Hemline carded haberdashery range which was an immediate success. We commenced installing the new Hemline range in retail stores throughout Australia.

1990
Hemline goes International
| In 1990 Hemline is sold to a major distributor in the U.K., followed by Denmark, Sweden and other European countries. To facilitate this expansion we established our own centralised packaging and Distribution Company in Hong Kong.

1993
Hemline starts a family
In 1993 following on from the international success of Hemline, we introduced Klassé - quality needles and scissors, Sew Easy - exclusive quilting & dressmaking products.

1997
- 20 years
| In 1997, 20 years on, SSS is now part of Sew Group International a group of companies committed to working together to supply quality product and services to the haberdashery and craft industry.

1999 Sew Easy Collection
| In 1999, SSS introduces into the sewing market a collection of trolley bags and hand luggage accessories designed specifically for the sewer. This was one of the first real trolley bags purposely designed for our industry. This range took the world by storm, and is now known as the Sew Easy Collection.

2000 SSS Expands
| In 2000 SSS purchase a major DC facility in Sydney's west. This DC was fitted out with the latest technology in distribution systems.

2001 Habee Savers
| In 2001 the Habee Savers range which was designed specifically as a “value range” was introduced into the Supermarket stores.

2006 Celebrate Ribbon
| In 2006 Celebrate ribbon was developed and introduced to the world market. This is a major range offering over 1000 designs and colours.

2008 SGI Expands in China
| In 2008 Sew Group International expands its manufacturing operation in China. SGI now supplies over 40 countries throughout the world and aims to continue to develop ranges that offer the best in pricing and quality, with innovated retail solutions.
